Time Zone Converter

Set a time in one place and see it everywhere else at once. Every place is a card: add the ones you need, remove the rest, drag them into order, or make any card the primary one. Daylight saving is applied for the date you pick, and the day planner shows when everyone is in working hours.

How this is calculated

Local time (to) = Local time (from) − UTC offset (from, on that date) + UTC offset (to, on that date)

UTC offset
From the IANA time-zone database for that exact date — so daylight saving is included
Gap / overlap
Local times skipped when clocks spring forward, or repeated when they fall back

Converting time zones isn't a fixed number of hours: offsets change with daylight saving, on different dates in different countries (and not at all in India). The converter first finds the exact moment your local time refers to, then shows it in the other zone. When clocks spring forward, a local time like 02:30 can be skipped; when they fall back, 01:30 happens twice — both cases are flagged instead of silently guessed.

Assumptions & sources

  • Uses your browser's IANA time-zone database (rules for future years can change if a country changes its laws).
  • Times are to the second; leap seconds are ignored, as in UTC timekeeping on computers.

Common questions

How many hours ahead is India of New York?

9 hours 30 minutes while New York is on daylight saving time (March to November) and 10 hours 30 minutes in winter. India doesn't use daylight saving.

What happens to times that don't exist?

When clocks spring forward, local times in the skipped hour never happen. The converter warns you and uses the time the clock shows after the jump — e.g. 02:30 becomes 03:30.

How do I find a meeting time across zones?

Add a card for each place. The day planner below the cards lines up 24 hours for every place and outlines the hours when everyone is between 9 am and 6 pm; click a column to set that time.

How do I compare just two time zones?

Remove the cards you don't need (each has a Remove button) until two are left. The top card is the time you set; the other shows the same moment.

How do I swap which place is the primary one?

Press 'Make primary' on any card, drag it to the top, or use its up arrow. The moment stays the same: the new top card shows its own time and the old one moves down showing the converted time.

Can I save or share my cards?

Use 'Copy link'. The link reopens the same cards in the same order with the same date and time. Nothing is stored on a server.
