Trades to Restore Your Target Mix

₹2,30,000 buy · ₹1,30,000 sell

Largest drift today 9.0%; after trading 0.0%

Equity: 69.0% → 60.0% (target 60%)
Sell ₹1,30,000
Debt: 24.8% → 30.0% (target 30%)
Buy ₹1,40,000
Gold: 6.2% → 10.0% (target 10%)
Buy ₹90,000
Allocation: now, target and after

Selling can trigger capital gains tax and exit loads — consider directing new money and SIPs instead if the drift is small.

How this is calculated

Trade = Target % × (Current total + New money) − Current value (buy-only: top up assets to L × Target %, choosing L to use exactly the new money)

Drift
Current weight − target weight

Markets move your allocation away from the plan: after a rally you hold more equity — and more risk — than intended. Rebalancing restores the mix by trimming what has grown and adding to what has lagged. Using new money and SIPs to rebalance avoids selling, tax and exit loads.

Assumptions & sources

  • Trades happen at current values; taxes, exit loads and transaction costs are not deducted.
  • Buy-only mode never sells; any remaining drift is reported.

Common questions

How often should I rebalance?

Common approaches: once a year, or whenever an asset drifts more than about 5 percentage points from target. Both work; avoid rebalancing so often that costs eat the benefit.

Can I rebalance without selling?

Yes — direct new investments and SIPs into the under-weight assets. Turn off 'Allow selling' to see the best split of new money.
